Our cabin has as source of inspiration the story of the raftsmen on Bistrita. Therefore, it is the ideal place, where you can come across legend and adventure. Before the construction of the Bicaz Dam and of the hydro-electric stations on Bistrita River, the transportation of logs to the timber factories was the job of the raftsmen, who were well-known for their strength of character and their steadfastness that helped them deal with the extremely difficult work conditions.

Their journey would begin at Vatra Dornei and sometimes finish at Galati, where the raftsmen used to come from on mountain tracks, carrying cereal or other supplies, which were hard to find in the mountain areas such as Bistrita Valley. This journey was generically named “The Way of the Raftsmen”, and due to its extreme conditions, it represented a true initiation ritual for the raftsmen.

Inspired by the legends of the raftsmen, which talk about their strength of character, friendship, steadfastness, courage, adventure and kindness, we offer you the possibility to retrace some of the steps of the raftsmen.

Therefore, at the Drumul Plutasilor Cabin, you can either relax in a true, direct connection with nature, or test your sense of adventure through a series of activities that we can place at your disposal.
